As Covenant Seminary transitions into a new academic year this summer, we are pleased to announce some key administrative transitions as well. Dr. Brad Matthews will step into the role of Vice President of Academics, taking over that position from Dr. Jay Sklar, who has decided to return to full-time teaching and writing after nearly a decade in the VP role. Dr. Robbie Griggs will move into the Dean of Faculty role vacated by Dr. Matthews.

Covenant Seminary is pleased to announce a new, 11-credit-hour Graduate Certificate (GC) in Leading Bible Studies that will launch in the summer of 2025 and is designed to teach believers in the local church to study—and lead others in studying—the Bible well.

Covenant Seminary is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. K.J. Drake to our faculty as Associate Professor of Systematic Theology, effective July 1, 2025. Dr. Drake has been serving as Associate Professor of Historical Theology and Academic Dean at Indianapolis Theological Seminary and previously was Sessional Professor of History at Redeemer University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Covenant Theological Seminary is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Richard Joe as the first occupant of The Paul D. Kooistra Chair of World Missions, established in 2022 in honor of former MTW Coordinator and CTS President Dr. Paul D. Kooistra. Dr. Joe will join our faculty in August 2025.

Covenant Seminary recently received a $25,000 Moving Forward in Mission Grant from the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) to further the Seminary’s goal of recruiting and training more pastor-minded church planters for the Presbyterian Church in America and beyond.

Giving Tuesday, the annual event celebrating generosity and giving back to one’s community, is a wonderful way for supporters to help Covenant Seminary continue preparing pastors, counselors, and other ministry leaders for Christ’s church through donations to the Seminary’s student scholarship fund.

Covenant Seminary is gearing up for a new semester of classes, and that means a new series of weekly Chapel services is also set to begin. Drawing inspiration from a phrase in the Seminary’s mission statement, the overarching theme for the fall 2024 Chapel series is “To Glorify the Triune God.”

Covenant Theological Seminary is hosting a comprehensive evaluation visit for reaffirmation of accreditation by the ATS Commission on Accrediting on October 28–31, 2024. The purpose of the visit is to verify that the school meets all applicable Commission Standards of Accreditation.

Join us for the 2024 Francis Schaeffer Institute Conference, hosted by Covenant Seminary in partnership with The Gospel Coalition, as guest Speakers Jake Meador (editor in chief of Mere Orthodoxy) and Dr. Gavin Ortlund (pastor, author, speaker, and apologist for the Christian faith) explore the theme Christ and All His Hallows: Evangelism in a Disenchanted World.

Covenant Theological Seminary is pleased to announce that Rev. John Chung (MDiv ’09) was recently named Vice President of Enrollment for the institution. Rev. Chung, who has been serving as Senior Director of Enrollment Management for Covenant since April 2022, will assume his new role July 1, 2024.

Covenant grad Davis Mooney (MDiv ’19) received the gift of faithful pastoring during his childhood and college years—now he continues that tradition by serving the Lord as a youth pastor.
