Dr. Robbie Griggs

Dean of Faculty

Director of the Master of Theology Program

Associate Professor of Systematic Theology

CHAIR OF THE SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY DEPARTMENT

Dr. Griggs is an expert on the theology of the New Testament within the intellectual context of Jewish and Hellenistic philosophy in the Greco-Roman world, and his research on the Apostle Paul has taken him to the heart of a number of debates in the history of Christian thought. In addition to his scholarly activities, he has been an ordained pastor for over twenty years, with a focus on teaching the Bible and theology for cultural engagement.

As a churchman, teacher, and scholar, Dr. Griggs has a passion for bringing the deep resources of the Christian faith to bear on the contemporary concerns of the church and society. So, in addition to research on the doctrine of God in Jewish antiquity, his current research is focused on the intersection of Christian views of human nature and prevailing questions around embodiment and technology.

Dr. Griggs is a life-long Missourian, a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, and an avid supporter of Mizzou football and basketball. He and his wife, Jane-Ellis, have three boys.
