FAQs
-
Due to rising venue and food costs, we have opted for a small ticket charge to offset our expenses. It doesn’t fully cover the evening, but it helps the Seminary not to incur too large of an expense.
-
Of course! We encourage alumni to bring their familes.
-
If they are Covenant Seminary alumni, then we are delighted to host them! We would ask you not to bring non-alumni friends as we sell out reservations every year and want to keep spots open for our graduates.
Faculty Seminars
Several Covenant faculty members will present seminars during General Assembly.
Technology and Christian Wisdom
Dr. Robbie Griggs
Since 2022 when OpenAI unveiled ChatGPT, predictions both dire and utopian about AI and the future of education, work, and life have mushroomed. In the face of widely diverging opinions about emerging technologies, how might ministry leaders get their bearings? This seminar will focus on a range of biblical texts and theological doctrines, in order to develop an understanding of technology as a development of the potential of God’s good creation. This seminar will equip church leaders to help their congregations glorify God in the midst of rapid technological change.
The Major Trend of Diaspora Mission and its Impact on Iran and the PCA
Dr. Richard Joe
Jesus commissioned his disciples, and by extension his church, to be his witnesses to the ends of the earth. While it is certainly still necessary for churches in general and the PCA in particular to send foreign missionaries, it is also true that the ends of the earth have come to us such that our missions work at home can have a significant impact abroad as well. Dr. Richard Joe will explain this major trend, called “diaspora mission,” laying out its practical impact on our churches here at home while referring to the explosive growth of Christianity in Iran as an example.
Preaching and Pastoring in a Polarized Culture: Lessons from Francis J. Grimké (1850–1937)
Dr. Drew Martin
Born enslaved, Francis Grimké studied under Charles Hodge at Princeton Theological Seminary and pastored in Washington, D.C. for nearly 50 years. Ministering through Reconstruction, Jim Crow, and early civil rights struggles, Grimké remained steadfast in Reformed orthodoxy, gospel preaching, and public moral clarity. This seminar explores the theological convictions and pastoral practices that shaped his ministry. In an age of cultural confusion and moral drift, Grimké offers enduring wisdom for pastors and elders committed to faithful shepherding and confessional integrity.
