The thoughts and prayers of all of us at Covenant Seminary are with the victims and families of those killed or injured at the mass shooting in Las Vegas on Sunday, October 1, 2017. In light of such evil violence, we look together to the Bible, which tells of a God who invites us to pour out our hearts in lament and intercession to him. May Jesus draw near in this time of suffering and loss.
In hope we look to what he has promised: that one day all evil will be swept away in perfect justice. Let us all be in prayer for those affected by this act of violence, for the victims and their families. Let us be in prayer for our government and its leaders. And let us care for others as we carry this hope, that in that glorious Day in the New Jerusalem when Jesus comes again, “violence shall no more be heard in your land, devastation or destruction within your borders; you shall call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise” (Isa. 60:18).
