[2014.11.03] - Interpersonal Neurobiology - Loving God with All Your Mind

Theme: Being Known: Loving God Through the Prism of Interpersonal Neurobiology

Speaker: Dr. Curt Thompson, author of Anatomy of the Soul, is a psychiatrist in private practice in Falls Church, Virginia, and founder of Being Known, which develops teaching programs, seminars, and resource materials to help people explore the connections between interpersonal neurobiology and Christian spirituality that lead to genuine change and transformation.

Description: We all long for a world of goodness and beauty. Pastoral care is nothing if not shepherding flocks toward a world in which that very goodness and beauty are envisioned and embodied. What does the research of neuroscience–part of God’s good creation–have to reveal to us that can help us do the work of pastoral ministry with a renewed sense of mission, energy, and joy? This lecture series will explore how loving God with all of our mind has as much to do with how well and by whom we are known as it has to do with what and who we know and what we do. Along the way we will see glimpses of God’s Kingdom as the new science of the mind affirms the story of the gospel in all of its redeeming, embodied glory.
