
Dr. Jeremy Ruckstaetter joined us as Assistant Professor of Applied Theology and Counseling in 2016, became Associate Professor of Counseling in 2019, and became Interim Co-Director of the Counseling program in 2020.
He holds a PhD in counseling education and supervision from Regent University, is a graduate of Covenant Seminary’s MAC and MDiv programs (MAC ’11, MDiv ’12), and also holds a bachelor of music (with an emphasis in music education) from the University of Georgia. Dr. Ruckstaetter has worked as a licensed professional counselor in a variety of settings, including Central Christian School and Crossroads Counseling Centers in St. Louis, Missouri; Trinity Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, Virginia; and in private practice. He currently coordinates support groups at his local church.
He has previously taught counseling courses as an assistant professor of counseling and in other roles at various institutions. His PhD research was focused on parenting issues. As a counselor, he has experience with individuals, couples, families, and groups, navigating various mental health issues, parenting and marriage issues, career issues, grief and loss, those healing from various types of abuse, and those facing difficulty in ministry settings.
He is also an accomplished musician, having served as a musician in the U.S. Navy and as a music director at Christ Presbyterian Academy in Nashville, Tennessee, and has recorded with Indelible Grace and other artists.
He and his wife, Kacey, have a daughter and two sons.
