According to the International Orality Network and the Lausanne Movement, approximately 5.7 billion people in the world are oral preference learners and communicators. More than half are among unreached people groups around the world. Additionally, dynamics related to globalization and rapid urbanization have resulted in global population shifts that continue to bring a more diverse array of oral preference learners together in population centers around the world. Thus, orality is a critical issue for God’s mission today that has implications for the church world-wide as it seeks to make God’s Word available in the heart languages of all people, responsive to the cultural and experiential contexts of all people, and accessible through using communication methodologies from which oral preference learners readily communicate.
Join us on March 6 & 7 for Tell Me A Story: Orality, Storying, & God’s Mission, a conference to equip God’s people to understand orality, grapple with its importance for God’s mission today, and develop skills for making use of oral methodologies in evangelism, discipleship, and leadership development. Experts from StoryRunners will be teaching us the basics of Bible storying. And local practitioners will provide workshops for context specific issues. All are welcome!
Founded by Cru in 2003, StoryRunners exists to equip the world’s 7,000 unreached people groups to produce and use oral Bible stories to launch communities of multiplying disciples. StoryRunners are passionate about seeing followers of Christ in every unreached oral people group, equipping believers everywhere in evangelism, discipleship, and church planting.
In addition to staff from StoryRunners, local practitioners from Covenant Seminary and other churches and ministries in the Saint Louis area will facilitate a variety of workshops to help equip participants to utilize storying methodologies in different ministry contexts.
