Frequently Asked Questions
What is Covenant Worldwide?
Covenant Worldwide is a ministry of Covenant Theological Seminary to distribute a foundational collection of its course materials to anyone, anywhere in the world at no charge. Our hope is that missionaries, lay leaders, alumni, educators, and students will draw upon these materials to nurture their walk with the Lord and to enhance their ministry to others.
What are the long-term goals of the Covenant Worldwide initiative?
Covenant Worldwide's mission is to provide internet access to grace-centered, high-quality theological training by minimizing the barriers of distance, cost, and language. This mission recognizes a role for Covenant Seminary in stewarding resources of theological education in the Church, which is growing most rapidly in areas of the world where ministry training is often least available. Therefore, our long-term goal is the transcription, translation and recording of this course material in multiple languages through strategic partnerships with a variety of ministries. This work has begun because of the foresight of Dr. Brad Hough, former Vice President of Information Technologies at Covenant Seminary, and through generous grants from the Christian Education Charitable Trust and the Davis Foundation.
What course materials are being made available?
The complete list of Covenant Worldwide courseware available in English appears in the navigation bar on the left side of the English language home page. Edited transcriptions and study guides are being posted as they are completed. For non-English speakers, a complete list of translated materials currently available will appear on your language's home page as they are finished. Foreign language home pages will appear as materials for those languages are completed. Our immediate translation plans include material in Spanish, Japanese, and Korean with longer term plans to add materials in Russian, Portuguese, French and Mandarin.
How may I use Covenant Worldwide course materials?
Course materials offered (free of charge) through the Covenant Worldwide Web site may be used, copied, distributed, translated, and modified, but only for non-commercial, not-for-profit ministry purposes. We ask that all materials be appropriately attributed to their author.
What are the technical requirements for Covenant Worldwide materials?
Covenant Worldwide courses are available as MP3-format audio lectures and PDF-format documents. Both formats are widely supported and work well on both the Macintosh and Windows platforms. Although higher-speed connections offer the best experience, slower modem connections will also work to access the course content.
How do I access MP3 files?
MP3 audio files can be downloaded or streamed through your Web browser. Many media applications will play this file format. If you do not have Windows Media Player, Real Player, or some other media application already installed on your computer, you can download the free Real Player at www.real.com/player. (The free player is sufficient -- you do not have to purchase their latest offer.)
How do I access study guides and lecture transcripts?
Study guides and transcripts of selected lectures are posted in PDF format. If you do not already have one, a free reader application is available for download at www.adobe.com. Links to PDF documents will open a new browser window.
How do I obtain course credit or interact with teachers?
Covenant Worldwide is a free publication of course materials on the Web and does not provide academic credit or student-teacher interaction. Students wishing to earn a degree or certificate may take courses for credit through Covenant Seminary's distance learning program and are to contact the Seminary's Admissions Office for further information.
