Audio Transcription for Lesson 23: Speaking with Mormons & Jehovah's Witnesses
I am going to answer one other question that comes from something I said last week. The question is about the remarks I made last week about "being mean" to Mormons. First of all, I was using hyperbole. Everyone knows that hyperbole is exaggerated language. I was really speaking to a special case of people. There is a time and a place to be very tender to a Mormon. If your neighbor happens to be a Mormon, be kind to that person. I am not saying to go out and be cruel to Mormons. What I was talking about was the case of a Mormon-trained deceiver coming to your door. There are many other Mormons who are just out there knocking on doors because somebody told them that they have to do that in order to go to heaven. They are clueless. You do not need to be mean to them, because they are not lying to you; they do not know enough about Mormonism to lie about it. You share the Gospel with them and they say, "Oh, I believe that, too." They really think that they are agreeing with you. They are deceived, and we should have pity on them and be gentle and share the Gospel with them. When I was talking about being harsh and not agreeing with them, not inviting them in and giving them a drink of iced tea and chatting about how we all love the Lord, I was talking about was those trained deceivers, the high-up ones, who are taking out a junior partner, who are systematically deluding that person and systematically and carefully deluding everybody in your neighborhood. That is especially what my reference was.
