Mo Leverett founded Desire Street Ministries in New Orleans' 9th Ward in 1990. The ministry, which eventually housed numerous spiritual and community development programs, employing over 60 staff, until the tragedy and devastation of Hurricane Katrina wreaked it’s havoc, now continues its mission under the leadership of former Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel in Decatur, Georgia. Mo has since launched Rebirth Community Ministries, which seeks to advance urban ministry initiatives stateside and world-wide by resourcing the church for it’s ongoing purpose among the poor and by developing next-generation urban ministry leaders.

Mo is also a talented singer-songwriter who has recorded a dozen albums. Fans of his lyrical, poetic, gutsy, folksy-bluesy recordings find in Mo a creative force majeure and a depth and honesty unique in contemporary Christian music. If you are interested in learning more about the God of Mercy and Justice, who has called a people to share in his mission of renewal, you won't want to miss this evening. Mo will also be speaking in chapel Friday morning at 10 a.m., accompanied  by Covenant Seminary students Shane Fast and Mike Bertucci of Rebirth East St Louis, which is a ministry devoted to transforming East St. Louis through life-on-life investment in youth. Learn more at
