On Friday, March 28, 2014, the Francis A. Schaeffer Institute and Covenant Seminary’s Student Council were pleased to host a special roundtable discussion with seasoned evangelist and teacher Randy Newman, author of the award-winning book Questioning Evangelism: Engaging People’s Hearts the Way Jesus Did (Kregel, 2004). Adept at engaging people with the message of Christ in the midst of challenging environments and circumstances, Newman shared his insights and experiences and answered students’ questions during a gathering in Edwards Hall.
Newman is a 30-year veteran of Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ), and currently serves with Faculty Commons, Cru’s ministry to university professors, through which he ministers to students, professors, and policy shapers on college campuses and elsewhere in our nation’s capital. He has also served with the Chaplain’s office at the Pentagon and as an adjunct professor at Trinity International University. A Jewish believer in Jesus, Newman formerly was editor of The Messiah-On-Campus Bulletin. In addition to Questioning Evangelism, he has written numerous articles and books, including Corner Conversations: Engaging Dialogues about God and Life (Kregel, 2006), and Bringing the Gospel Home: Witnessing to Family Members, Close Friends, and Others Who Know You Well (Crossway, 2011). He blogs and offers insights about evangelism at www.randydavidnewman.com.
