John Prentis

John Prentis has a long history of involvement with Covenant Theological Seminary. He served on the board of trustees from 1987 to 1989, then as vice president for institutional advancement from 1990 to 1995. He has been a member of the advisory board since 1996. Prentis has great insight into the needs of the school and the challenges it faces as it prepares for the next exciting phase of its story. “I’m very enthusiastic about the Seminary,” Prentis said recently. “I’m excited about it all!”

Prentis’s passion for the Seminary is obvious and infectious as he speaks about the school’s importance to him and to the future of Christ’s Church. “The transgenerational nature of its mission strikes a note with me,” he says, “and the way that so many people have been touched by the Gospel because of what goes on here. The Church depends on us; missions depend on us. There is no more effective way of doing Gospel ministry than what is done at Covenant Seminary.”

Through a recent and successful capital campaign, the Seminary has built a new academic building and adapted existing facilities for more effective use. In addition, campus beautification projects have been implemented, and the seminary’s top-notch faculty of pastor-scholars has been expanded through several endowed professorships.

All of this greatly enhances the school’s ability to provide high-quality theological education to the increasing numbers of students who come to Covenant Seminary each year. Ultimately, it is Christ’s Church that will benefit most as future generations of pastors and ministry leaders are trained to serve God’s people—by His grace and for His glory. Prentis says, “A gift to Covenant Seminary has the potential to touch more lives for Christ in an effective manner than anything else I know.”
