Scripture Citation Searching:
To search for articles on a particular passage is tricky. Below are the steps for searching by Scripture citation. The areas mentioned in each step are marked on the image with a bubble noting the step number (e.g., the Search for: box mentioned in step 1 is marked on the image with a bubble numbered "1").
Another good way to search by a particular Bible passage is to use the Old Testament Abstracts and the New Testament Abstracts indexes found in the Library.
- Type the Scripture into the first Search for: box. Type only the name of the biblical book and the chapter (e.g., Genesis 1).
- Set the index to Scripture Citation Phrase.
- Click the Browse Index button to see the second screen shown below.
- Click on a relevant entry to return it to the Search for: box.
- Repeat steps 1 through 4 for any additional entries that cover your passage.
- Select OR to connect the Search for: boxes that you used.
- Click the Search button.
- You might have to repeat the search several times to include all the relevant entries. This is the difficulty of this type of search.
