One of the most significant decisions facing students is determining where to live while studying at Covenant Seminary. While the Seminary campus serves as the primary hub for student interaction and community-building, student residences also become natural extensions of the community at Covenant Seminary. No matter where students and their families live, they are an integral part of the Covenant Seminary community. The Admissions Office is ready to serve incoming students as they seek adequate and affordable housing. Please contact the Admissions Office to learn about the various housing options available.
There are a number of apartment options within a ten-mile radius of the Seminary. Covenant Seminary pursues relationships with some local apartment complexes in an effort to encourage situations where seminary families can live in a cluster of apartments, as well as obtain affordable rates. Covenant Seminary has the privilege of owning and managing clusters of on- and off-campus apartments to meet the needs of our students. The campus features 38 two- and three-bedroom apartments. In addition, Covenant Seminary owns and manages 44 one- and two-bedroom apartments at Gulf Drive approximately 12 miles east of the seminary. These apartments are normally available to families and married couples. For more information regarding the availability of apartments and the application process, please contact the Admissions Office.
On-Campus Family Apartments
On campus, 38 two- and three-bedroom student apartments are available for entering married students, with priority given to those with children. These Georgian-style red-brick apartment buildings are located in a beautiful wooded setting and combine the convenience of location with high-quality facilities. Each apartment contains a refrigerator, stove, washer, dryer, disposal, dishwasher, and a fire-suppression system. A large playground and gazebo with picnic tables are located near the on-campus apartments.
The apartments are not subsidized housing but are listed by the Seminary near current market value in order to help maintain the financial aid resources available to the entire Seminary community. Their convenience and quality put these apartments in heavy demand. Married students may have their names placed on the apartment waiting list upon receiving formal notification of admission to the Seminary.
On-Campus Apartments for Single Students
For single students, a variety of on-campus opportunities are available including both student apartments and houses. Single male students from the Reformed University Fellowship campus ministry may live in an on-campus RUF student house.
Due to family needs, some students prefer to either rent or purchase a home during their time at Covenant Seminary. The Admissions Office has developed relationships with a number of realtors in the area who have interest in serving incoming students as they look for a house to rent or to purchase.
In addition, the Admissions Office also maintains information on alternative housing options for both married and single students, such as caretaker responsibilities, work-for-rent, house sitting, etc. In order to maintain the integrity of these opportunities, this list is available only to those who have applied and been accepted to the Seminary.
As students prepare to move to St. Louis, the Admissions Office helps to assess their needs and resources in order to assist them in finding housing. As moving time approaches, incoming students should inform the Admissions Office of their moving date, time, and location, so that the office can organize a team of students to help the newcomers move into their new home.
The Student Services staff is also available to new students as soon as they arrive. Student Services can answer many questions students have as they settle in -- even suggesting the best and most reasonable places to shop! It is Covenant Seminary's desire to greet every new student family as welcome members of the Covenant Seminary Community.
