Alumni Relations

Covenant Seminary’s comprehensive alumni relations program is committed to developing and maintaining a network of our 3300 alumni in every state and 40 nations. The key purpose of this network is to support, encourage, and celebrate the lives and ministries of alumni throughout their years of service. This network—called a “family” by some and a “band of brothers” by others—is marked first by a commitment to the gospel of grace (our union with Christ) and second by common experiences in ministry preparation. These experiences were shaped in the context of community and in by the ministries of men like Robert Rayburn, J. Oliver Buswell, Francis Schaeffer, John Sanderson, William Barker, David Calhoun, David Jones, Jerram Barrs, Jack Collins, and Hans Bayer. And similar experiences continue to be shared and shaped by the more than 30 full- and part-time faculty currently training future alumni.

Below are a few of the ways that alumni are encouraged to connect with one another and with Covenant Seminary:

The Covenant Seminary Alumni Facebook Group has been a source of regular alumni updates, prayer requests and praises, and the rekindling of old friendships for many of our pastors and ministry leaders. With more than 650 members, this group provides regular interaction between the Seminary and our alumni community—soliciting book reviews, devotionals, input into ministry-related surveys, and providing free books and unique resources.

As our monthly electronic newsletter, eConnect serves as a portal to updates, new resources, unique interviews, and opportunities available through Covenant Seminary. If you would like to receive eConnect or update your email address, click here.

Alumni Devotionals and Book Reviews

Expanding the influence and reach of your gospel studies and proclamation, the alumni devotional and book review series is a source of regular encouragement to Web users. We regularly hear of the benefit of these series to busy pastors and ministry leaders. Alumni are encouraged to submit book reviews and devotionals for use in these ongoing series.

Lifetime of Ministry Series

The Lifetime of Ministry (LOM) series is a collection of select weekend and intensive courses offered as part of our regular course offerings (for current students) and made available for free for all Covenant Seminary alumni. Many of these courses concentrate on key competencies or character issues relevant to vocational ministers. Alumni unable to attend these courses may also access many of them online for free at http://www.resourcesforlifeonline.com/.

Alumni Gatherings

In our ongoing effort to provide contexts for alumni to connect with one another, and hear from current faculty members, Covenant Seminary regularly offers regional alumni gatherings. These gatherings are generally promoted in eConnect and the alumni Facebook group. If you are interested in helping facilitate a gathering in your area, please contact Joel Hathaway.

Career Services

Whether you are in pursuit of a first position or considering a change, Covenant Seminary’s Career Services are available to help you grow in the understanding of your ministry gifts, the contexts in which they would best be employed, and practices for communicating these aspects of calling to potential churches. For more information, click here.

More a business and professional resource, Linkedin is quickly becoming a means to recommend fellow pastors and ministry leaders for new vocational opportunities, paid or volunteer. In additional to the updated Placement Services that Covenant Seminary offers, Linkedin provides churches the ability to identify experiences and abilities in potential ministry candidates.
