MA (Theological Studies)

In keeping with Covenant Seminary's commitment to train pastors and those who serve beside them in ministry, our Master of Arts programs offer Christ-centered educational options for those preparing for a variety of paths of service in the church or other ministry settings. Educational Flexibility, Real-World Specificity

Service to Christ's Kingdom can take many forms. Covenant Seminary's MA programs prepare students to meet the growing need in today's world for well-trained leaders, teachers, and communicators of God's Word. Whether you are called to serve in a local church or some other form of ministry, our MA programs train you to bring a biblical worldview to bear in every situation and to engage our world courageously but compassionately with the eternal truths of the gospel.

Multiple Options for Pursuing Your Degree

Students may pursue any of our MA degrees in several ways: full time, part time, day or evening on-campus study, and part time through distance education. Up to 23 credit hours may be taken by distance education, with the remaining 25 hours completed through regular semester classes as well as intensive weekend, January term, and summer classes. Select MA students can participate in relevant Doctor of Ministry cohorts toward completion of up to 18 hours of degree and elective requirements.  These select students will be determined with additional admissions criteria (i.e. an interview with the Doctor of Ministry program director regarding life and ministry experience).  Participation in a DMIN cohort requires two weeks per year of on campus study either during the summer or January terms.

MA Core: A Biblical Foundation for Fruitful Growth

All MA students gain a solid foundation in biblical studies, theology, Christian heritage, and communication of the gospel. Each program also involves a Capstone project that integrates classroom learning with practical application.

Degree Emphasis: A Focus on Ministry for Today's World

Students take an additional 21 units (including electives) in their chosen area of focused study: Educational Ministries, Religion and Cultures, Theological Studies, or Worship and Music. All programs include hands-on education experience in local churches or other ministries.

Master of Arts (Theological Studies) (MATS)

The MATS trains students biblically and theologically to bring an informed Christian perspective to their world and their callings. This degree offers helpful study for lay leaders and people who desire a more informed perspective on faith and life.
