Graduate Certificate (GC)
The Graduate Certificate (GC) is a 20 credit hour course of study that provides biblical and theological training that equips lay people to bring an informed Christian perspective to a variety of callings and non-ordained ministries. The GC allows pursuit of graduate theological study without commitment to a full degree program.
Program Requirements
The GC requires satisfactory completion of 20 units with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.25. Since the certificate is not a degree, all certificate credits subsequently may be applied to one of Covenant Seminary’s degree programs, if the student is accepted into the degree program. A bachelor’s degree or its educational equivalent is normally required for admission, but exceptions can be made based upon academic coursework completed, life experience, etc.
This certificate program is ideal for individuals wishing to deepen their knowledge of Scripture and its application. This program represents 20 course units of work of the student’s choice, allowing interested students to create a self-study program that best meets individual needs. Academic Advising time will be given to individual students to assist in choosing the courses to best meet the individual's educational needs and desires.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a completed application form, testimony, personal references and transcripts from all undergraduate or graduate institutions previously attended. Students for whom English is a second language must submit TOEFL scores.
Distance Education Option
Students may complete the Graduate Certificate through our Distance Education option. Certificate students should keep in mind that there are limitations on the number of Distance Education courses that may be subsequently applied to Covenant Seminary’s master’s degrees. (Students attending classes in St. Louis should consult the Distance Education section of the Student Handbook for additional limitations.)
