Preparation for a Lifetime of Fruitful Ministry

From experience and the witness of church history, we know that living and learning together in community makes a significant difference in equipping church leaders to face the daily challenges of ministry. Our faculty of pastor-scholars with expertise in their fields and experience in ministry are committed to living out the gospel before you and with you.

Through a pastoral approach to Reformed theological study and a deep understanding of God’s grace permeating our own lives, we strive to cultivate a learning environment where you wrestle with honest questions about faith, life, and calling. We desire our students to experience life transformation through the power of the gospel so that they know Jesus Christ more intimately than they did before they came. When this happens, graduates begin vocational ministry with more than just new information—they begin equipped with tools critical for sustaining them in their roles.

Academic Focus

Our curriculum, which is rooted in and committed to the Reformed faith, strongly reflects our commitment to train servants of the triune God to clearly and effectively interpret, communicate, and minister God's Word. We focus on four critical areas of scholarship:

  • Scripture and Interpretation: We stress careful, prayerful exegesis of Scripture in the original languages, literary analysis, and awareness of archaeological and historical insights as methods of exploring the meaning of a text and its place in the Bible.

  • Theology: We strive to study Scripture through the dual lenses of biblical theology, which explores the unfolding plan of salvation throughout Scripture, and systematic theology, which approaches the themes of the Bible as a completed whole.

  • Tradition and Mission: We examine the history and heritage of the church to provide a foundation for themes covered in other parts of the curriculum, with an emphasis on God’s ongoing mission to reach and redeem people throughout the world through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • Ministry and Proclamation: We equip students with principles of communication and practical applications for ministry leadership through courses in preaching; worship; counseling; Christian education; church growth, planting, and renewal; and evangelism.

Partners in Ministry

Beyond graduation we serve and support graduates in a variety of ways that help them remain rooted in grace, which we believe is the foundation for a lifetime of fruitful ministry. For example, alumni can participate in any of our Lifetime of Ministry classes for free.
